The Lost Keys of Masonry by Manly P Hall
Publication: 1924 Hall Publishing Company Second Edition
Scarce Second Edition of Manly P. Halls The Lost Keys of Masonry. Only the first three editions contain the original title which was subsequently changed to The Lost Keys of Freemasonry. These early editions are also unique in that they contain 'The Emerald Table of Hermes' plate colored in an emerald green.
Hall wrote the book, which would become one of his best selling, prior to being ordained as a freemason. It is erroneously speculated that Hall was so advanced in his knowledge of freemasonry that he was ordained as an "honorary" 33° Master Mason without going through the proper masonic initiations. I was able to verify directly with my sources at the Scottish Rite Masonic temple in Oakland, that Hall did in fact complete the necessary degrees before being Raised in 1954 at the Scottish Rite Jewel Lodge in San Francisco. All 33° Mason's are, in-fact, honorary, since the degree itself is considered an honorary degree. -Ernest J. Rose | The Rose Books & Obscurities
