The Brotherhood of the Rosy Cross by A.E. Waite
Publication: 1924 William Rider & Son; London First Edition
A beautifully produced publication, and important work in the sphere of Rosicrucian history. Contains sixteen full-page illustrations, finely trimmed pages, and richly decorated covers with gold detailing. Scholar R. A. Gilbert, an expert on both the Golden Dawn and A. E. Waite, notes that Waite’s work remains the only substantial English-language history of the 17th-century Rosicrucian movement and its later developments. The book also briefly covers the early formation of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and includes a reproduced page from the mysterious “Cipher Manuscripts.” Notably, Waite does not acknowledge his own involvement in the Golden Dawn or in the groups that followed, such as the Independent and Rectified Rite and the Fellowship of the Rosy Cross.
