The Hermetic and Alchemical Writings of Paracelsus by A.E. Waite

Publication: 1894 James Elliot & Co. First Edition

Paracelsus was one of the first European alchemical writers to emphasize the connection between chemical experimentation and spiritual growth. He is recognized as both a precursor to modern scientific medicine and chemistry, as well as a significant figure in alchemical and esoteric thought. His work is believed to have had a profound impact on Dr. John Dee and Francis Barrett, and more recently, on members of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and similar occult groups and individuals. The editor, Arthur Edward Waite (1857-1942), was a key figure in the Victorian occult revival. His achievements included introducing the works of Eliphas Levi to the English-speaking world and publishing many classical texts on alchemy for the first time in English.
