The Mystery of Electricity by Manly P. Hall
Publication: 1930 Hall Publishing Co. First Edition
this is one of the most fascinating and hard-to-find early publications produced by Hall. Hall, who titled the prologue “A Retrospect and Prophecy," makes several eerily accurate assessments about modern times. "...television will find us suffering from chronic ennui... One of the greatest problems confronting us is the demoralizing effect of our own productiveness. We can no longer live unless surrounded by a heterogeneity of conveniences, and in order to support our luxuries, we condemn ourselves to lifelong toil... Within the next century, electricity is destined to reshape and revolutionize social relationships... Coming events, we all know, cast their shadow before."
