Beautiful contemporary binding. The Soul of Lilith is Marie Corelli's most well known work; considered by some a minor classic of supernatural fiction. Corelli wrote fiction  themed on occult related subjects. "Her books had a wide readership - including Gerald Gardner who had four of her novels in his library - and Aleister Crowley, who refered to her in several book reviews."

Note: The set was bound by Scottish bookbinder James Macdonald [stamp signed to the verso of front free marbled endpaper] who came to the U.S. New York City in 1880, very quickly becoming one of the preeminent bookbinders in America. He established a successful commercial bindery with William Launder.

Condition: Three quarters bound morocco, five raised bands, gilt title to spine, marbled boards, marbled end papers, both volumes with scuffing along outer edge of spine and top spine edge, clean, tightly bound, in Near Fine condition
