[Boehme's The Aurora]

BÖHME, Jacob. Theosophia Revelata: Alle Göttliche Schriften. 1730.

An early german edition of Jacob Bohme's foundational work The Aurora. Published in 1730. Considered one of the most influential texts in Western Esotericism. The work represents Bohme's first major exposition of his understanding of God, creation, nature, and the hidden spiritual structure of the cosmos. This copy contains the portrait frontpiece and celebrated Gichtel woodcut engravings which are among the most recognizable and enduring symbolic images in Western esotericism. Gichtel's allegorical imagery became inseparably associated with Bohme's mystical philosophy.

Contemporary calf with leather spine label and four raised bands. Approximately one inch excised from the front free endpaper. Collated complete. A few leaves with early ink brackets in the margins, mild scattered foxing, and occasional light age toning. Tightly bound and sound, remaining in very good condition overall.
