very scarce first edition
Freeman B. Dowd (1825-1910) was for many years Paschal Beverly Randolph's best known follower inheriting and expanding Randolph’s controversial synthesis of Rosicrucianism. Double Man is an occult novel written in a consiously symbolic mode using narrative and allegory to convey deeper spiritual and moral ideals. Early and first editions by Dowd are notoriously difficult to locate.
