A signed First Edition, First Printing of The Power of Awareness by Neville Goddard. The book is signed and inscribed by Neville on the front free endpaper, “Bob Arthur, I Believe Every Word in This Book — Neville.” The emphatic inscription is particularly noteworthy, going beyond the more conventional presentation inscription and directly affirming Neville’s conviction in the ideas expressed in the work.
Although subsequent printings are somewhat common, the First Printing in the original dust jacket is rare, with signed copies among the most desirable to collectors.
We have been unable to independently verify the identity of the “Bob Arthur” named in the inscription, though it may possibly be Robert “Bob” Arthur (1921–1997), the prominent radio and television personality who worked in Southern California broadcasting, including at KTLA, KNX, and KABC. Given Arthur’s presence in Southern California during the period, the identification is plausible, but without further provenance we cannot establish the association conclusively.
Condition: Publisher’s green cloth boards, gilt title to spine and front cover, the scarce unclipped original dust jacket preserved in Mylar, dust jacket soiled throughout, with chipping to head of spine, jacket has closed tear running along front joint, small piece of tape to rear of dust jacket along spine, jacket in Good condition, book itself bright and very well preserved, in Very Good condition.
