The Tarot of the Bohemians Absolute Key to Occult Science by Papus Translated by A.P. Morton Revised with Preface by A.E. Waite
Publication: 1958 Samuel Weiser
by Dr. Gerard Encausse (1865-1916), the French occultist and founder of the Martinist Order. Papus built on the work of Eliphas Levi to create one of the first major studies of the tarot as a key to esoteric initiation rather than simple divination. The book was first published in French in 1889, and an English translation (which had nothing to do with Waite) followed in 1892. The first Waite edition was published in 1910 and reissued a few times, including this 1958 Edition.
