Mackenzie's extensive work on folklore holds authority to present day. The work covered here Egyptian Myth & Legend contains a compendium of folklore the times of Ancient Egypt.
Plenty of color and monochrome illustrations throughout by Warwich Goble. This edition in particular is one of the series of superb book covers published by The Gresham Publishing company between 1912-1915. The books were part of series entitled "‘Myth and Legend in Literature and Art’. The series was published in two editions of 8 total volumes, this being part of the first edition series which were produced in a stunning art nouveau. The gold title on the front indicates this was a first printing. Later printing (although not stated)included the same title style across the front but with the title in yellow.
Condition: Decorated cloth boards, top edge gilt, edges with faint spotting, corners and spine edges slightly turned in, slightly cocked spine, binding very strong, both exterior and interior remain remarkably clean, in Near Fine condition
