Magic, White and Black by Franz Hartmann
Publication: 1911 The Theosophical Publishing Company
This is an early reprint of one of the most well-known works by Franz Hartmann (1838 - 1912), a Bavarian-American writer, physician, theosophist, occultist, geomancer, and astrologer.
Hartmann emphasized that true magic—according to his perspective—does not rely on specific rituals or ceremonies. Instead, he believed it is about developing individual spiritual powers. In his book, "Magic Black and White," he sought to expose the claims of false magic while outlining the conditions and practices necessary for genuine spiritual development.
