A Confederacy of Dunces [Association Copy] by John Kennedy Toole

Publishing: 1980 Louisiana University press; sixth printing (May, 1981)

Signed and inscribed on front free endpaper by Thelma Ducoing Toole mother of the author John Kennedy Toole: " Appreciation and Regards from John Kennedy Toole's mother, Thelma Ducoing Toole, to dear Veronica Flint"

Books signed by the author’s mother are comparatively uncommon. While copies signed by the editor are encountered with some regularity, examples bearing Thelma Ducoing Toole’s signature appear far less frequently on the market with only a small number of comparable auction records.

A Confederacy of Dunces remained unpublished for more than a decade following John Kennedy Toole’s death. Through the persistence of the author’s mother, Thelma Ducoing Toole, the manuscript was eventually brought to the attention of Walker Percy, who championed its publication by Louisiana State University Press. The novel went on to achieve lasting critical and popular acclaim and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1981, posthumously honoring its author.

Condition: publishers cloth boards, dust jacket is price clipped, with some creasing along the spine edges the book itself is in great shape, small stain marks to upper edge of text block,  overall in Very Good condition
