First Edition First Issue - the paper on which it is printed is a buff colour, it has a low limitation number, and the binding is a dark brown with the title lettered in gold down the spine reading "Commentary on the Chymical Wedding
"The Foxcroft translation of the "Chymische Hochzeit Christiani Rosencreutzhe," ("The Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz"), with commentaries etc. The "Chymische Hochzeit" was the third of the original manifestos of the "Fraternity of the Rose Cross" which is generally ascribed to Johannes Valentinus Andreae (1586-1654), and has been aptly described by Dame Frances Yate's as "a strange alchemical romance." This edition comprises an Introduction by Adam McLean, a translation of "The Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz" (based on the 1690 Foxcroft translation), A Commentary on The Chymical Wedding by Adam McLean, The Chymical Marriage of Christian Rosenkreutz, A Commentary by Gareth Knight, an Appendix: "The Parabola of Hinricus Madathanus Theosophus," and a Bibliography.
