The author R.A. Gregory was a professor of astronomy at Queen's College, London, and wrote numerous text books on astronomy, chemistry, physics, and other scientific subjects. He was elected by the old students of the Royal College of Science to president of the Royal College of Science Association of Imperial College London, and served there from 1919 until 1922. He was a fellow of the Royal Society of Science.
