Original dark blue cloth with rules and attractive decorations stamped in black, spines titled and pictorially stamped in gilt, floral endpapers. Portrait frontispiece of the author with tissue guard in vol. 1, folding diagram in vol. II. Large thick 8vos. xlvi, 628 pp.; (vi) iv, 692 pp. + xxii pp. publisher’s catalogue by J.W. Boutin bound at rear.
Condition: Origina maroon boards, elaborate gilt decorated spine, floral end papers cloth along the spine with fading but the gilt is still bright, the outer borders of each volume darkened, both volumes with book plates, portrait of Vol 1 with dampstaining which seeps slightly onto the title page, otherwise pages of both volumes are clean of any marking, overall still in Very Good minus condition despite the flaws
