The first two volumes in this important Theosophical series. The first issue of 'Lucifer' was released under the editorship of H.P. Blavatsky and Mabel Collins in September of 1887. Annie Besant took the helm alongside Blavatsky after 1888. Both volumes in three quarter binding morroco with five raised bands and marble paper sides, custom marbled end papers, gilt title on spine. These Lucifer volumes are seldom seen in original period fine binding. Rare!
Special Note: In addition to both complete editions the end of Volume two includes a few releases of 'George Redways Literary Circular' (Dec 1887 through June 1888) bound in. Redways Literary Circular was an obscure monthly record of ancient occult books with notes,news and commentaries. Also included is 'Redway Esoteric Series' catalogues with original advertisements to such occult classics as; The Key of Solomon the King, The Lives of Alchemistical Philosophers, and original order form for the Lucifer series. These rare catalogues serve as a great reference to any occult book collector.
Condition: Both volumes are in overall Very Good condition, binding is tight, all pages are clean with no markings, the only damage to note is around the edges of the book of which some of the paper and leather has been rubbed off due to shelfware. All things considered these are still in great condition.
