The book was first published as a small, thin quarto in 1890, Westcott then revised and expanded it considerably, and published a second edition as the ninth volume of the "Collectanea Hermetica" series of which he was the editor, in 1902. W. Wynn Westcott (1848 – 1925) was of course one of the founders of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, Supreme Magus of the Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia (SRIA), and Master of Quatuor Coronati Lodge (the well-known London Masonic Lodge devoted to Masonic research). While this is a stated "third edition" it is actually a reprint of the third edition, which was first published in 1911."
Condition: Original light blue cloth with title stamped to spine and front board, inscription, small Samuel Weiser bookplate to pastedown, dust jacket is present with some soiling and chipping primarily along the edges and a tear along the spine,, the spine of the book has moderate fading, internally very clean with no markings, uncommon in the original dust jacket overall in Very Good condition
