Franz Hartmann (1838 - 1912) was a Bavarian-American physician and occultist. Initially interested in Spiritualism, he joined the Theosophical Society in 1882. Hartmann was one of the best-known authors on magic of his time and authored or edited nearly a dozen works on the occult, with a focus on the occult aspects of medicine. Subjects include: The Constitution of Man, The Four Pillars of Medicine, The Five Causes of Disease, The Five Classes of Physicians, The Medcine of The Future, Miracles in Nature, The Inner Temple, Terrestial Alchemy, The Astral Light, etc. etc.
Condition: publishers green cloth boards, gilt title to spine and to cover, flyleaf with rectengular cutout, cover page and rear advertisement with foxing, foxing along the text block, pencil annotations to page 53 (easily erased), tightly bound, covers bright, in Very Good condition overall
