Osiris and the Egyptian Resurrection by E.A.Wallis Budge

Publication: 1911 G.P. Putnam Sons first edition

Budges Osiris & Egyptian Resurrection was widely read wthing current and 20th-century esoteric circles and was frequently drawn upon by figures associated with Theosophy and Western occultism, including Manly P. Hall and Aleister Crowley, who relied on Budge’s translations and interpretations as source material for Egyptian symbolism.

This beautiful two volume set in the desirable binding variant. This is the first and preferred edition of E. A. Wallis Budge’s major study of ancient Egyptian beliefs concerning the afterlife and the cult of Osiris. In the same year, copies bearing a Medici Society imprint were also issued. Those Medici issues exist in more than one form, including a commonly encountered book club issue with simplified production featuring single-page plates rather than foldouts, reduced color quality, and blind stamped covers, as well as a higher quality issue. The present Putnam issue represents the fully realized trade edition and was handsomely produced on superior materials with the complete plate suite.

Condition: publishers erd cloth boards, gilt title to spine, only a touch of sunning to the spines of each volume, volume two with crease to head of spine, minimal scuffing to boards, tightly bound, bright clean copies in Very Good+ condition
