"George Ebers [1837-1898] was a German Egyptologist and Professor at Leipzig University. He is famous for discovering a rare Egyptian papyri of herbal medicine in Thebes that dates to 1550 B.C. Known as the Ebers Papyrus,it is one of the most well preserved of its kind. In addition to his archaeological writing, Ebers penned historical fiction, using his knowledge of Egypt as a setting, romanticizing its myths and legends that helped to popularize the work of early Egyptologists."
