A scholarly inquiry into the interpretation of the Gathas as pertaining to the prophet Zarathustra (Zoroaster). The Gathas are 17 Avestan hymns traditionally believed to have been composed by Zoroaster. They form the They form the core of the Zoroastrian liturgy (the Yasna) .They are arranged in five different modes or metres.
The present volumes states " Scholars are still much divided upon the interpretation of The Gathas . The present volume contains a version of their meaning as understood by two Parsi students of the Avesta" - in reference to the two authors.
