The Cipher In the Plays, and on the Tombstone by Ignatius Donnelly
Publication: 1899 The Verulam Publishing Company: First Edition
Controversial author Ignatius Donnelly believed that Francis Bacon was the true author of the Shakespearean plays. He wrote a substantial 900-page book titled *The Great Cryptogram*. In a lesser-known work called *The Cipher*, Donnelly explores in detail the use of ciphers in Shakespeare’s plays and discusses the supposed cipher hidden in Francis Bacon’s tombstone.
A scarce work.
