The Emerald Tablet of Thoth-The-Atlantean translated by Maurice Doreal
Publication: 1939 Brotherhood of the Temple; First Edition
Dr Maurice Doreal founded his Brotherhood of the White Temple in the 1930s, and wrote a number of books related to the teachings of his group but was best known for his "The Emerald Tablets of Thoth-The-Atlantean" which purports to be a translation of an ancient hermetic text. Doreal claimed that during a 1925 visit to the Great Pyramids of Giza, he discovered a set of ancient emerald tablets belonging to the Egyptian deity Thoth, whom he reimagined as a king of Atlantis. Doreal then claimed to have translated the text, which he published as the “Emerald Tablets of Thoth The Atlantean.”
The rather low-quality production publication is quite rare and is sought after by collectors. There has been a recent resurgence of interest in this work, mainly due to the abundance of recent YouTube videos referencing his work.

Maurice Doreal was a mid-20th century American spiritualist and occultist who made contributions to the exploration of esoteric and mystical teachings. His work had an impact on the understanding and practice of spirituality and occultism during that period. Doreal was the founder of the Brotherhood of the White Temple, a spiritual organization that blended elements of Theosophy, New Thought, and Eastern mysticism. However, the organization eventually transformed into something of an apocalyptic cult in the 1950s, with members expecting an imminent atomic war from their commune in Colorado. Doreal may have been the first person to link “flying saucers” and occult ideas.
