The Ghost Kings is a mystery-adventure novel originally published in 1903 by H. Rider Haggard, set along the borders of Zululand in southern Africa.
Haggard was an English writer best known for his adventure romances set in exotic and often imagined locales, and is widely regarded as a pioneer of the “lost world” literary genre a branch of fantasy and early science fiction centered on the discovery of unknown or hidden civilizations. His work influenced later popular writers such as Edgar Rice Burroughs, Talbot Mundy, and Robert E. Howard, and several of his novels were adapted for film.
