The History of Magic by Eliphas Levi
Publication: 1939 Rider & Co. Third Edition
The History of Magic was a broad ranging study of magic, which also touches on alchemy and other hermetic arts. Levi was, of course one of the most important figures in the 19th century occult revival. The translator of this work, A.E. Waite was clearly impressed with it, describing it as ‘the most arresting, entertaining and brilliant of all studies on the subject with which i am acquainted’
