The Idyll of the White Lotus by Mabel Collins
Publishing: 1919 Theosophical Publishing House Fourth Edition
Mabel Collins, the English theosophist best known for her work "Light on the Path," claimed that while writing the book, she was completely taken out of her body so that her hand and pen could be used by another intelligence.
Years later, after joining the Theosophical Society, she showed the unfinished manuscript to H.S. Olcott, who was visiting Europe with H.P. Blavatsky. Mabel explained that the text had been written either in a trance or under the dictation of an unseen entity, but the inspiration had since faded. Col. Olcott advised her that if she had ever considered publishing the book for profit, she should abandon that thought and try again. She followed his advice, and the writing of "Idyll" was completed in the same manner. The book was dedicated to "The True Author, the Inspirer of this work."
