Originally published anonymously in 1815, the identity of the author of the work remains unknown, although it is sometimes ascribed - apparently wrongly - to Francis Barrett. Waite's contribution was largely editorial: he revised many of the biographies and added that of Cagliostro. The work also includes an interesting, but sometimes inaccurate, bibliography of alchemy and hermetic philosophers [Gilbert B3]
Condition: Publishers brown boards, gilt title to spine, boards are rather worn, corners bumped, spine darkened, book plate to front pastedown, theosophical society stamp to title page, remaining pages are clean, hinges are cracked but binding is still sturdy, overall Fair to Good Minus condition only. RARE
Note: often a very expensive edition to acquire. I do not typically list items unless they are in Good or better condition. However the scarcity of this volume was enticing enough to make an exception. The pricing here is fair taking the condition into consideration.
