The Mysteries of Magic of Eliphas Levi With Biographical and Critical essay by Arthur Edward Waite
Publication: 1974 University Books
Originally published in 1886, this was perhaps the first truly significant publication of Lévi's work in the English language. According to A.E. Waites biographer R.A. Gilbert; Waite was so inspired by the quotes of Eliphas Levy which he had read in Blavatskys ‘Isis Unveleived’ that he proceeded to acquire a copy of Levis major work “Dogme et Rituel de la Haute Magie” and began work on an English translation. Levi found that an Anthology of these translations would be a more fitting release. Waite than began work with publisher George Redway on what would eventually become “The Mysteries of Magic” this 1974 reprint also includes a new forward by Leslie Shepard.
