The Mystic Rose An Occult Periodical Volume 3 by Ernest J. Rose

Publication: March 2025 The Rose Publishing Company; Monterey, CA

Limited to 300 Copies

Compiled and Edited by Ernest J. Rose

The Mystic Rose periodical has been produced in homage to the various occult periodicals published in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries throughout the United States and Europe. Key esoteric periodicals such as The Occult Review, The Quest, The Path, The Word, and Manly P. Hall’s All-Seeing Eye, are just a few of the significant publications from which we have drawn inspiration.

Each release will feature original contributions from the author Ernest J. Rose, alongside a section titled "Classic Esoteric Reprints," which will include relevant articles reprinted from notable historical esoteric periodicals.

This third installment presents three original contributions crafted by the editor. The first contribution, titled “Poetry of the Divine Image” delves into the intricate ways in which myths, allegories, and biblical narratives shape our understanding of reality. It offers an exploration of the diverse and deeply personal ways individuals engage with stories, and the unique perspectives that each person brings to their interpretation of these powerful narratives.

The second article, “Lapis Lazuli: The Deep Blue Stone,” examines the associations between the color blue and its symbolic significance in relation to Paradise in ancient Egyptian culture. It also draws interesting parallels between the biblical story of Noah and the Egyptian concept of the ‘Field of Reeds’ or ‘Paradise’.

As part of the "Classic Esoteric Reprints" series I have included  two intriguing articles that originally appeared in The Occult Review. The first article, titled “The Rhythm of Color and Life” was written by Ella Adelia Fletcher and published in The Occult Review in 1915. Fletcher was an elusive author, and very few records of her exist apart from the literary work she left behind. The second article is a brief piece by renowned occult writer A.E. Waite, titled “The Veil of Alchemy” which appeared in The Occult Review in 1911.

The Mystic Rose will be published twice a year, coinciding with the Vernal and Autumnal Equinoxes. Only a limited number of physical copies will be available for each volume.
