The Occult Philosophy in the Elizabethan Age by Frances Yates
Publication: 1979 Routledge Kegan Paul - First Edition
A nice First Edition of Dame Frances Yates' now-classic study of the Rosicrucianism manifestos that appeared in early seventeenth century Germany and the movements that evolved from them. Yates suggest that these manifestos were connected with movements inspired by John Dee in Bohemia during the reign of Queen Elizabeth, and examines in detail the history and thought of the Hermetic tradition that blossomed at that time. As could be expected there are numerous references to Dee, his life and works.
