The Paradoxes of the Highest Science by Eliphas Levi
Publication: 1922 Theosophical Publishing Company Second Edition
The second edition of the first work of Levi's to be separately published in English (various letters, fragments, etc. had earlier appeared in the 'The Theosophist' magazine). It was published in 1883 as a wrappered booklet by the Theosophical Society in Calcutta, as No. 2 of the Theosophical Miscellanies series, with the sub-title 'Unpublished Writings of Eliphas Levi.' The work contains numerous footnotes by an 'Emminent Occultist', whom R. A. Gilbert has postulated may have been Mme Blavatsky herself. The original pamphlet is seldom seen, and this second edition is also quite scarce.
