The Phoenix by Manly P. Hall

Publication: 1931-32  Philosophical Research Society: first edition limited to 300 copies

The Phoenix is one of Manly P. Hall's most important early works, bringing together essays on symbolism, alchemy, Rosicrucianism, mythology, comparative religion, and the Western esoteric tradition. Illustrated by Augustus Knapp and issued in a limited edition of 300 copies, it was intended to help fund Hall's vision for the future Philosophical Research Society, which would be formally established in Los Angeles in 1934.

Condition: Publisher's paper-covered cloth boards. Covers with only a touch of fading, spine ends lightly worn. The most notable flaw is scattered tape residue to the endpapers with associated foxing offsetting. Ownership stamp to the front free endpaper. Otherwise a well-preserved copy, clean and sound, overall in very good condition.
