The Sign Language of the Mysteries by J.S.M. Ward

Publication: 1928 The Baskerville Press First Edition 2-Volume set

LIMITED TO 1000

The best known work from author J.S.M. Ward. Sign Language of the Mysteries is a comprehensive study of symbolism covering a broad spectrum symbolism. This was the first rigorous scholarship to explore the hidden symbolism in hand gestures and body positions used by Freemasonry, Ancient Egyptians, Christian priesthood, secret societies, and those depicted in many ancient engravings and paintings.

This is a scarce set. These editions were released in 1928 and limited to only 1000 sets. Containing over 130 rare illustrations from various sources.

NOTE: The boards are in such prestine condition that i suspect this may have been rebound, i have compared this set to sets that i have carried previously and they do indeed seem to be exactly alike. If the boards were rebound, it was done masterfully and exactly as the original binding. Another explanation would be that these books were stored properly for year, which would also explain the pristine condition of the pages. There is no way to determine for certain.

Condition: Original boards with gilt title to spine, all color plates present, all pages are clean and crisp, binding tight, overall the set is in Fine Condition
