The Soul of Lilith by Marie Corelli
Publishing: 1892 Heinemann and Baluster; London The English Library No. 124 in Two Volumes First Edition in Two Volumes
Beautiful contemporary binding. The Soul of Lilith is Marie Corelli's most well known work; considered by some a minor classic of supernatural fiction. Corelli wrote fiction themed on occult related subjects. "Her books had a wide readership - including Gerald Gardner who had four of her novels in his library - and Aleister Crowley, who refered to her in several book reviews."
Note: The set was bound by Scottish bookbinder James Macdonald [stamp signed to the verso of front free marbled endpaper] who came to the U.S. New York City in 1880, very quickly becoming one of the preeminent bookbinders in America. He established a successful commercial bindery with William Launder.
