The True Masonic Chart of Hieroglyphic Monitor by Jeremy L. Cross

Stereotype Edition with the History of Free Masonry by ' a Brother'

Publication: 1870's Masonic Publishing and Manufacturing -Sixteenth Edition containing the historically significant appendix with cross' statement to the Masonic Fraternity in which it was deemed advisable to adopt a regular and uniform system of lecturing and work; this after the Grand Lodges of the several States had declared themselves free and independent, and the General Grand Chapter had been organized. Thus the mode of lecturing and work as disseminated by Cross became nearly universal throughout the United States.

"Containing all the emblems explained in the degrees of Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft, Master Mason, Mark Mason, Past Master, Most Excellent Master, Royal Arch, Royal Master, and Select Master, to which are added illustrations, charges, songs, & L., with additions and emendations; also a history of Freemasonry by a brother,"

The author Jeremy L. Cross was a renowned Masonic lecturer and author. He became a "foremost teacher and propagandist of the cryptic" degrees and introduced pictures of the emblems into the handbooks which he published

Condition: Green publishers cloth boards elaborately decorated with masonic symbols in  gilt along the spine and  blind stamp decorations to upper and rear covers, the first 10 blank leaves of the book have newspaper clippings from the 1870 glue on the front and back, it is assumed that these clipping are glued only to preliminary blank leaves and possibly a couple of the advertisement pages, but the title page and text pages remain unaffected, rear blanks with spotting, text pages remain clean and in great condition, corners bumped, spine edges turned in, still a bright and attractive copy in Very Good condition (Flaws have already been considered in our pricing of the book)
