The Work Days of God by Herbert W. Morris D.D.
Written by the Rev. Morris, who was an early advent of Christian Science. Whether Rev. Morris knew it at the time or not. He was rendering the early though forms of Christian Science. Looking back to the way esoteric teachings developed during the late 1800s , this is quite the compelling; especially looking back these writings with an esoteric lens. The book covers the 7 days of creation in a fascinating way.
The authors writes "...while in the Bible we have a verbal revelation of wisdom and power and goodness of God, in material Nature we have a pictorial revlation of the same...a pictorial revelation of the invisible things of Him being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead."
The author uses scientific illustrations in order to understand the reasoning and purposes of God. The book has 35 illustrations (black and white engravings) of the various periods of the earth's history,a quite skillful blend of science and christian theology. Whether Reverend Morris knew it or not, he was a proprietor of early Western Christian Esotericism. His work here resonates with the wave of Theosophical thinking that would soon influence the Western culture.
