Original red cloth with gilt hexagrams with framed ornate designs on front board + title and author(s) on spine, top edge gilt, the bottom and fore edge are untrimmed, all black & white illustrations are present along with the portrait Frontpiece, this is the first US edition of the extensively revised translation of “Transcendental Magic” by Eliphas Levi. Waite was unable to provide a fully annotated translation in his original,1896, publication of this work. He did so in this edition. According to Waite biographer R.A. Gilbert "The annotations are extensive, for Waite had worked on them sporadically for seven years." Gilbert does not list this US printing, which came out the same year as the British, and almost certainly used the same sheets but with a different title-page Includes all original engravings and a portrait of the Author.
Condition: Original red boards and decorative gilt remains very bright, tan colored end papers, all pages are clean with no markings, top and bottom of spine are bumped, slight bumping to corners, bottom edges are slightly discolored, overall this wonderful condition and exceptionally difficult to find in this condition, clean bright copy, binding tight, Overall Very Good+
