The Papyrus of Ani was acquired by the Trustees of the British Museum in 1888. Its rare vignettes, hymns, chapters, and its descriptive and introductory rubrics renders it of unique importance for the study of the Book of the Dead, and it takes a high place among the authoritative texts of Theban version of that remarkable work. The present edition was originally sold exclusively at the British Museum. In fact, some copies, such as the present offering, were bound with the intention of being preserved exclusively for the museum.
Condition: three quarters leather with gilt title to spine, index dequence to base of spine, british museum stamp to cover page, stain which permeates towards the upper edge of spine, pages clean, tightly bound, heavy book weighing almost 9 lbs, in Very Good condition
