Eliphas Levi was one of the most important figures in the 19th century occult revival, and this work "The History of Magic" played a crucial role. The translator of this work, A.E. Waite was clearly impressed with it, describing its as ‘the most arresting, entertaining and brilliant of all studies on the subject with which i am acquainted’
Condition: Publishers decorative cloth boards with wide gilt ornamented frame to cover, wear to spine extremities primarily upper , pinhole worming to inner gutter of the first 30 pages of the introduction, overall still a bright copy in Very Good condition
