This is a well-illustrated, comprehensive, and practical guide to yoga, in which Iyengar describes over 200 postures and 14 different breathing exercises in detail. The author, Bellur Krishnamachar Sundararaja Iyengar, was an Indian teacher of yoga and a prolific writer. He is the founder of the "Iyengar Yoga" style of yoga as exercise and is regarded as one of the foremost yoga gurus in the world.
Iyengar authored many significant books on yoga practice and philosophy, including Light on Yoga, Light on Pranayama”, Light on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali , and Light on Life . He was among the earliest students of Tirumalai Krishnamacharya, who is often referred to as "the father of modern yoga." Iyengar has been credited with popularizing yoga, first in India and subsequently around the globe.
