Ulysses was first published in 1922 by Sylvia Beach and Shakespeare and Company in Paris. Deemed obscene and subsequently banned in both the UK and the US, several early copies faced destruction by customs and postal authorities. This 11th printing was the final one produced by Shakespeare and Company it is bound in an attractive three quarters leather binding. The blue wrappers were not bound in.
Condition: Three quarters leather binding, five raised bands, marbled boards, gilt title to spine, top edge gilt, marbled end papers, pages toned as common, spine edges worn chipped along top spine edge, joints scuffed, wear along the edges, overall a clean copy, no markings, binding firm, in Very Good condition
