D.E.S. III The Dzyan Esoteric School Instructions No.III by H.P. Blavatsky
Publication: 1889-90 Printed Privately on The D.E.S. Press
This is a truly rare original publication of the mysteries esoteric section of the United Lodge of Theosophists. The present edition circulated only privately among members of the secret school. Hence, original printings seldom appear on the market. This book contains private preliminary explanations by Helena Blavatsky to members of the Dzyan Esoteric School. The papers, and instructions contained here, were originally pledged to secrecy.
According to an esoteric paper of the D.E.S. "The active Agent of the School is known as the 'Secretary, D.E.S.' All communications should be addressed to that agent, and all communications, instructions and directions, to applicants and members will be issued by that office and over the signature 'Secretary, D.E.S.'."
Fittingly, this publication has an address on page 1 which has been covered by an address label, which of course has also been attempted to be covered by white out. The sticker is barely legible, but holding it to the light we can make out the following:
Label: "[illegible] to be returned on demand of the Secretary of D.E.S 245 W. 33rd St, Los Angeles,California" beneath the label it contains the original address of the D.E.S. headquarters "Not The Property of Any Member and To Be Retuned on Demand the Agent of the Head of The E.S.T. 504 Metropolitan Building, Los Angeles, California"
Where did the name "Dzyan Esoteric" School or Section originate? In Theosophy magazine, February 1915, p. 188, Mr Robert Crosbie declared-----
"...The actual name of the School of the Masters [is not] used by any of the so-called esoteric sections of the now numerous Theosophical Society."
Condition: black leatherette, sewn binding, small number plate to pastedown, clean copy in Near Fine condition. Truly Rare!
